Run for JCPS School Board

HOLD THESE FAILED LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE!

JCPS has screwed the pooch. And the KY Legislature has set up the perfect steal. Our current school board is weak, indecisive and compromised. Four of the seven seats are up for grabs this November. Tuesday, June 4 is the deadline to file. Please contact us for help making sure you have everything you need and to seek an endorsement from our PAC.

The boundary maps changed in 2021, following the latest Census. Please enter your address to confirm you live in the district of the school board seat for which you wish to file. Also make sure you get the signatures of at least two people who live in your district and who are registered to vote at the time they sign. The dark money funded opponents will destroy you if you don’t follow every rule, as one of the incumbents for KY House is finding out the hard way.

Funny how those stringent rules didn’t apply when it was JCTA’s President KNOWINGLY violating the same laws, but to a further degree, as this was the candidate themselves who didn’t live in the address they put on their petition, but they still were not disqualified.

But I digress,

… almost as badly as we’ve allowed our government funded school system, not to mention our judicial system, our policing system, our codes and enforcements and internal investigations, I could go on and on. It’s time to stop pointing fingers and find solutions. It’s also time to stop allowing bad actors into such fragile and important positions. Follow the money. When in doubt, always follow the money. This year, there are hate groups and extremists continuing to ram down the door, motivated purely by hate, fear or greed. They don’t represent our people, and we know it. We have been showing up louder and longer and THEY know it. Follow our page and this website to read about our endorsements and warnings. Please consider making a donation to our PAC to help get the warnings out.

AND VOTE NO ON AMENDMENTS 1 & 2. It’s a trap!

Current JCPS Board Chair Corrie Shull recently quoted Maya Angelou, after three members railroaded the vote to remove transportation for 16,000 mostly low income minority students during a hastily called meeting that specifically did not allow public comment. The motion to move forward passed, despite board objections and public outcry. While glancing in Kolb’s direction, Shull, a Black pastor, continued chairing the meeting, following another rude interruption from one of the white board members, “As I was saying, when people show you who they are, believe them the first time.”

District 1, 2, 4 and 7 are on the ballot. Here’s what we know about each.

1 – Gail Logan Strange has not filed to run but we believe she will. She replaced Diane Porter in 2023 and has voted and spoken up favorably. If she runs again, we don’t see a need to find an alternative in this race.

2 – Chris Kolb needs to go. You may remember the outrage over his disrespectful and overstepping letter to principals. No one has filed to run as of this posting date, but we believe he will file to run again. If you live in his district, please contact us for more info. We cannot let him run unopposed, or worse, let someone Jonesing for passage of Amendment 2 in November.

4 – Joe Marshall is not running again. No one has filed. If you live in his district, please contact us for more info. See Amendment 2 concerns above.

7 – Sara McIntosh is not running again. (Thank God!) One candidate has filed to run that we know of. We don’t know anything about them as of yet. They do have a website. First glance indicates he is pro JCPS stakeholders, and seems to be saying all the right things, EXCEPT taking a stand on the most destructive issue, which is Amendment 2. If anyone has a chance to find out where he stands on protecting JCPS from outside predators, please let us know. We need to know who sent him.

Learn about another time JCTA President meddled in a School Board Candidate’s filing at the last minute. Sadly, our friend took his life a few years ago after he was cast out by his union colleagues for speaking the truth no matter the consequences. He was a true hero in my book. He allowed himself to be bullied and lied to by someone we all should be able to trust. May he rest in peace.
