Many public education and social justice advocates feel that the only way to end the "test and punish" high-stakes game, which have an even higher detrimental effect on our most vulnerable populations, is to deny the data to the education reformers, politicians and corporations exploiting and profiting from our children. Because the state requires that our district perform these assessments, the only ones who have the power to push back are the parents and the students. One way to do that is to "opt-out" or "refuse" certain tests.
