Her UNBREAKABLE Promise

In 2020—during a national reckoning after Breonna Taylor’s murder and amid a global pandemic—Dear JCPS invited investigative reporters to witness the unraveling of a deep and disturbing cover-up in Jefferson County Public Schools, one that continues to grow into a case of historical proportions. Despite our efforts, these reporters have remained largely silent—ignoring falsified testimonies, threats, confessions, conspiracy, and cover-ups—and the relentless retaliation against a Black female educator who was simply doing her job.

Who is Dr. Kimberly Mucker Johnson?

At the center of this storm is a highly credentialed, tenured, and deeply skilled JCPS educator—a former member of the U.S. military, author, non-profit operator, mother and child advocate—who courageously reported child abuse at a predominantly Black elementary school in West Louisville. Maupin is a school where the wellbeing of some of Louisville’s most vulnerable children should have been paramount. Instead, her commitment to protecting them triggered a disturbing chain of retaliation from those determined to bury the truth.

Instead of receiving support, Dr. Johnson was met with relentless retaliation from a coalition of actors—district officials, union leaders, and others—who manipulated records, coerced witnesses, and orchestrated a seven-year campaign to discredit and silence her, and it’s still not over.

One key player in this particular professional lynching is a white kindergarten teacher who, according to multiple witnesses, was observed harming Black children in her care on several occasions. When Dr. Johnson fulfilled her legal obligation as a mandatory reporter and alerted authorities to the ongoing, ignored abuses, she landed in the crosshairs of powerful people determined to protect themselves.

The damning text message above was sent by that same kindergarten teacher—after she apparently learned that a colleague, during the prior internal investigation, had told the truth in a way that revealed the complaints about her were true. The message, laced with intimidation, was sent to that colleague in an apparent attempt to punish her for not coving for her during the investigative process. We uncovered the finalized investigation through an open records request and shared the results with the witness—only to discover that her official statement had apparently been falsified by insiders. This chain of event were documented on our website, social media, and escalated to the highest levels of oversight. Her powerful 4-day EPSB testimony and these examples bare the extent of the cover-up and the powerful individuals and systems driving it.

The message isn’t just troubling; it’s explosive. We are uncertain if this text message has yet to have surfaced during the hearing, because we were ejected for exercising our lawful right to record—right as key details involving a high-ranking district official were beginning to come out. Coincidence? You decide.

What was the recording that had just been referenced by Dr. Johnson going to reveal, before the attorneys with tiny bladders rudely interrupted her testimony AGAIN? We are still tracking the video down and will share it as soon as we can! We think this technique was a deliberate distraction and another reason we are glad we exercised our right to record DESPITE their toothless and improper rulings.

That confession/threat/conspiratorial text message still hangs over the case like a lit fuse.

Meanwhile, EPSB lawyers and their allies have been performing a carefully scripted drama—an illusion of fairness designed to bully truth-tellers and control the narrative. Their sudden topic changes and coordinated ejections of witnesses reveal a calculated effort to evade accountability and suppress the facts.

This is not justice. It is theater—designed to bury the voices of real victims.

Despite overwhelming evidence, local media have largely turned a blind eye, leaving the public in the dark about a grave injustice unfolding in their own community.

Now, after years of stonewalling and blatant violations of due process, the Education Professional Standards Board appears poised to rubber-stamp this abuse through a rigged, so-called quasi-judicial process—one that repeatedly thumbs its nose at the law, the rights of the taxpaying public, and the very educators it was created to support, protect, and regulate with fairness and integrity. The final hearing—set for July 25, 2025—could once again result in the truth being buried and justice denied.

Retired Maupin Principal and bearer of false witness, Maria Cissell Holmes, is sworn in by EPSB attorneys while the so-called “neutral” EPSB meeting facilitator displays clear favoritism toward her employer’s disdainful and shady legal team. Notice the numerous cameras placed throughout the room—used to spy on audience members. The facilitator even (presumably accidentally) revealed a photo of the defendant’s notes during her pro se representation, complete with her skirt and lap visible, leaving no doubt about its source.

Ten years ago, almost to the day, I co-founded Dear JCPS. I’ve been following and extensively reporting on the retaliatory mistreatment toward Dr. Johnson since 2018 or 2019. You can find a detailed website consisting of publicly available documents, which I put together ahead of her sabotaged 02-22-2022 trial, here:

I also reported on my own fraudulent mistreatment by Principal Cissell Holmes back in 2017, after she conspired with cheating PTA leaders to have me removed from the district PTA board. That’s why I gave her a “present” after she doubled down on her false testimony, expressing “no hard feelings, we just want the truth to be told.” It’s a peaceful protest “poo-quet” (rhymes with bouquet) fundraiser for a dog rescue. Relax, it was plastic.
